almost 5 years old

Next month the duo turns 5 years old! Not sure how that happened. It seems slow and fast. We have come so far in all these years, yet some days feel like we take several steps backward. I have noticed several things about having twins. Some of the most interesting questions we get are: are they identical and are their personalities different? My answer is no they cannot be identical because one is a boy and one is a girl Secondly, yes they have different personalities because they are different people. It makes me think when you say you have two younger siblings people do not ask well do you all have different personalities? Of course, you do.  They have different likes and interests.

And we still take things one day at a time all these years later. So here is to seeing what age 5 brings next month.

hospital stay

It has been a long long few days. We have had so much going on. Last week the twins had their very first ever day of school. They loved it. I have heard that kids get sick a lot at school and to expect that. However, I was not quite prepared for it happing after the first day.

Twin A had a hard time breathing and was wheezing a lot. So I called the on call nurse. She said to take twin A into the ER. We thought we would go home after a couple of breathing treatments, but then she was still having a hard time and working hard to breathe. So they decided to admit us to Children's.

We had to call to get someone to watch twin B, he was with us at first. As it happens all grandparents were out of the country. So I called my sister in law and she met Ben and Twin B at our house. Then Ben came back up to meet us. Then we found out we were staying the night. Then the next night too..I think it is harder to have one in the hospital and the other at home. So no school for the twins this week. Hoping to send them back next week. I was impressed when I called the school Monday morning how helpful the person on the other end of the line was. She also knew exactly who I was and who my twins were, and I have not even met her yet. This makes me so happy that we chose the right place for the twins to go.

Finally, we got to come home last night. Twin A is so tired but is doing better each day.

Double the fun

This past year and half we have seen a lot of change around here. In November 2015, we found out we were expecting and told our families the exciting news. A couple of weeks later we went in for our first of many sonograms. This is the big one the one where we found out we were not just expecting one baby but two! Luckily we had a lot of time to mentally prepare. Since the twins were born it has been fun watching them grow and learn. Each day they have learned something new and continue to grow.

This fall they will start school. This is so exciting for them to make some new friends and continue to learn new things and have new experiences. So here is to the start of a new school year and new experiences for us all.

Baby update

the twins are 6.5 months old. We have been busy around here. They both came home in July two weeks apart. In August we bought a house- that is all on one level and moved in mid November. It has been a crazy year.

For the twins first thanksgiving we took them on their first road trip. It went great. While we were there the twins tried their first solids- rice cereal and then banana's a couple of days later.

I can't believe they have been home for 4 months and are both growing and getting so big. Love looking back at all their pictures from the past 6 mo the and really seeing how much they have changed.

Scout, the puppy has loved having her babies around and occasionally gets jealous but doing great overall. Scout loves her new house and yard.

Looking forward to celebrating their first Christmas. Here is to a great start to 2017

Baby A's homecoming

on July 13th baby A finally was able to come home to meet scout and her nite nanny. We were so excited to have everyone home and not have to go back and forth to the hospital. She came home July 13, 2016. So we just had to wait about two more weeks from when baby B came home. Scout was so excited to meet baby A. It was a long road to get both babies home but thankfully it was a smooth one.

So here is to adjusting to having two babies at home and the fun we will have.
