Yesterday, I put up a couple of posts. In my post about my brother, Bill's birthday I tried to to add a link about my brother being on 60 minutes on Sunday. However, this just ended up not working well. So, if you notice a couple of random posts that are supposed to be links and they are not working, that is because I could not do what I wanted to. So, if you want to see the link go to 60 minutes and find the story on afganistan and you should see him.
In other news, yesterday I ended up having to go to the Prima Care doctor. If you have not been there they are pretty good, I have gone a few times in the past couple of years. Here is what was going on. On Sunday, I woke up and at some point during the day my left thumb was really hurting. It was a pounding, throbbing pain. The pain was still there on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday, had gotten worse. When, I woke up on Wednesday, I had a strange discoloration on my thumb and they pain was worse. I went over to my parents house and showed my mom and she said I needed to have it looked at. So, we went to lunch and then I dropped my mom off to play bridge, her car was at the car dealership to get fixed. So, I went to the Prima Care place. There were a lot of people in there for a Wednesday afternoon. I had to wait about an hour, then I finally got back in one of the rooms and the doctor came in. She took one look at my thumb and said it had an infection and that was what the yellowish discoloration was in my thumb. So, she had to take a sharp knife and cut my skin with out giving me any numbing agent. Which was fine because I actually did not feel it because of the pain. As soon as she did that, all of this gross puss stuff came out since the infection was so deep. Then the doctor gave me a prescription for some antibiotics and a cream to put on my thumb after soaking it a couple of days.
Last night, I took the medicine and was fine and then, this morning I took the medicine as well with out eating. That was such a big mistake, let's just say in the future I will eat before I have any antibiotics. I had to call my mom and she said the reason I was not feeling well was because I did not have anything in my stomach. So, yet again I have learned my lesson. That was my interesting afternoon. However, yesterday Ben and I went to see Owen Temple play and it was so much fun to see him again.

Bill's birthday
Today, is January 14th, but it is not just another day, it is also my brother, Bill's 26th birthday. Bill, is currently serving in Afganistan, in one of the hardest places to be. I am writing today, to wish him a VERY happy birthday and hope that he is able to celebrate in some small way today. For those of you that do not know Bill was on the 60 minutes on Sunday , January 11th. It was really cool to be able to see him on TV, since we have not seen him since the summer. Bill left for Afganistan in November and will be there about a year. We do get to talk to him on the phone every now and then, but to see his face it was pretty cool. To see the clip of Bill on TV click on this link:
So, all of this to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY BILL I LOVE YOU and MISS YOU!!
subbing
Yesterday, I subbed at a public school, for the sake of this blog we will call it school XYZ. I subbed for first graders. I was called at 6 AM and left my house at 7 AM to get to the school by 7:45 AM. SO, as you can tell school XYZ is pretty far from where I live. So, I arrived at the school on time and found the office. This was my first time at school XYZ, and I was thinking first grade should not be too bad for one day. The staff at school XYZ was very nice and helpful. However, the students in the first grade class were AWFUL. It did not matter what I said or did the students did not listen and were very disrespectful. Now, I do not know if any of you out there have ever subbed before, but at times it can be very difficult and other times it can be great. This time, the principal came in several times and so did a few other people. The students were not only disrespectful to me but, they were also disrespectful to the other people who came in. The other teachers kept apologizing saying that the class I was with was a very difficult class. I am hoping next time I go back to another school in this district it will be a better experience.
I subbed on Monday at a local private school and had a great experience and the kids were amazing. This helps me to see how great first graders can be. There were a few snags but all in all not too many. So, in comparing these too schools it shows me a lot about the values that the students have at home and at school. So, today, I have off and am getting things done around the house and ready to go hear Owen Temple play tonight and am very excited about this.

My weekend was great. It started out on Friday, having dinner with my good friend, Stephanie who I had not seen in sometime. Ben, Went shooting with my brother, Chase and had a great time and then he went to eat with my family with out me. I am glad he had a great time. Then, I woke up on Saturday and went to Dealey's grandmother's memorial service. It was a very nice service at St. Michaels. Saturday night was Terps and it was a lot of fun this year. I went with my brother, Chase and we sat at a great table and had a lot of fun. This years president was Patrick and he did a great job. I met a lot of new people and got to talk to old friends as well. The after party had a great band and I loved all of the girls dresses this year.
