The Blind Side

Tonight I went to the first junior league of dallas' first general membership meeting of the year. It was great the speaker was Collins Tuohy of the movie and book "The Blind Side". She was a great speaker. She spoke about her life and how Michael Oar made a difference in her life as well as in her families' life. She was funny and talked about how important it was for you to find your passion in anything may it be volunteering with junior league or something entirely different. Her main point was to pick one thing and put your whole self in it and that when you do you make a difference.

I was really impressed with her wisdom at such a young age of 23. She also took time for a Question and Answer at the end of her speaking. She answered questions about her life and how she was affected by the movie and the book. She was very candid about what a difference Michael brought to her life and her families as well as questions about the movie. She did say that as her character in the movie played volleyball and she never did. She also shared that the part in the movie about her family driving on Thanksgiving to get breakfast her family saw Michael Oar on the street and stopped to give him a ride and that is how he came into their lives. She also shared about Michael's birth mother and how he does see her time to time and that in real life both Michael and herself are the same age.

All and all it was a great meeting with a great message. Look forward to other great meetings to come. Although to tell you the truth, the September meetings have always been my favorite!
