Today, Ben and I went to the Texas Stampede rodeo up in Allen. It was a lot of fun. We arrived and walked in and got some BBQ sandwiches and found our seats. We watched many many bull riders. It was interesting to watch them, and to think how crazy they are to do this day after day. At one point in the rodeo we saw a man standing on two horses next to each other with rains on four others and controlling them all. These horses were HUDGE!
Then, we saw a person unload some sheep and then out comes a dog with a monkey on top of him. The monkey never fell off the dog. The dog would chase the sheep around and herd them around. It was interesting because the monkey was wearing a hat and clothing. The monkey was only about 24 inches tall I think they said and is the highest paid around. It was funny watching him.
We also saw a group of girls who were on horses and on a horse drill team. They were very talented and all between the ages of 11-15. I had heard of a drill team and seen them but never heard of a drill team with horses before. They rode around as most dance drill teams would dance.
We also, saw these little kids who were holding on to sheep for their lives. They were like the big bull riders in the score but with little sheep. It was so funny seeing these kids hold on the best they could. All the kids and bull riders were wearing helmets like hockey ones. The last kid to go out holding onto the sheep was holding on so tight and would not let go, it was so cute!
After the rodeo we walked around the shops and the kids area. The kids area was so cute, they had fun activities for them to work on. Also, they had a mini version of the rodeo for kids to do. They had sheep in there and they had to try to rope them. Also, they had a black smith as well as a couple of guys teaching kids how to rope a plastic cow. It was so cute watching them. Then, we walked on over to see the big horses, that I mentioned earlier. They were the biggest horses that I have ever seen!
